MILL'S END 3rd street & Mill Crepes are a wonderful food group and they got em.
Breakfast, desert and entree flavors. This coffee house has all the upscale beverage stuff
along with really good fine art, the most comfortable seating of any coffee house on Mill, a
great patio and only the most personable staff. I call it the Intellectual coffee house.
Open mike on Thursday nights. Internet access. Quite often you can hear a really great
acoustic musician or band, I think Corey is finally respectful of this publication. Easy
parking
COFFEE PLANTATION at 6th and Mill. Historically the most important
cultural meeting place on Mill. Not anymore, who ever is running this place has
dropped the ball, and I doubt they will be open much longer, Hippy /Beatnik
place. Their menu is designed to satisfy healthy eating, coffee drinkers. They
have the best selection of desert on the Avenue, period! A great place to study
with a triple espresso. What happened to all their outside tables? It's on
Center Point property, so behave yourself...or else! This whole story breaks my
bohemian heart. Easy parking
BORDER'S COFFEE at 7th and Mill. I can still remember the first time I
walked through Borders and discovered their complete coffee bar and patio. It
was the best-kept secret on Mill. I can change that. There was a time when
"friends did not let friends by books from CHAINS. "They only hire GM's named
Mark, and always a good choice. Now they are the only game in town for A great
selection of books, and recorded material. Check the fountain in the back on a
warm day, at night with the lights on it is THE most beautiful spot on Mill. It
is more fun than a barrel OF monkeys. Every C.D. on the premises can be sampled.
And they hire highly informed people who will stand on their heads to help you.
Buy a loft in the brickyard and stop in every day. Underground and street
parking My magazine can now be purchased there.
THE SHOE MILL 4th at Mill It has taken me way too long to write this piece. This shoe
store is owned by my good friend Jake, who has secretly made shoes available to me for
years, because I talk about the store all the time. They have a selection of leather shoes
for people who want to be comfortable and stylish at the same time. The whole place smells
like a leather craft shop. Birkenstocks, clogs of all kinds and walking shoes. Cool purses
and modern leather backpacks. If you are offended by pretentious brand names but want great
quality shoes, stop screwing around and get down there. Look for Catarina, my secret love,
and her friends who understand the words customer service and get some shoes. Easy meter
parking.
Those were the Days 5-6th & Mill 480-967-4729 books and antiques are a
passion for the happiest couple, on Mill, Vic and Vicky, who make it their
business to travel the world and the internet, searching for the most
interesting, and obscure coffee table books, I could not even begin to list the
variety of topics, but when I went looking for books about movies, coins, and
tile, I found everything I was looking for, in antique items real and reproduced
in addition they have a collection of tapes, cards,. Go in an browse, mention my
name and watch, the snickering begin. See how many people named Wendy you can
find who work there. From the floor to the top of the 30-foot ceiling, it is a
museum on Mill. Automobile and motorcycle people, this place is heaven. And fine
art stuff too. Easy street parking.
UNI-PRINT AND DESIGN 7th St.& Forest 2 blocks east of Mill 480-968-0799 What, you

CHURCHILL'S FINE CIGARS 6th St. west of Mill 80-731-5300 Do you smoke
cigars, this is the most important cigar store in the southwest, period, and
they have no competition. The selection is stored in a room that is a humidor; I
have never counted how many choices they have, because it would take too long.
However, just to make it more confusing there is a professional, named Paula on
location to make you fresh handmade cigars, and she is great. In addition to the
cigars, they have a large variety of lighters, very cool cigar boxes, and
cigarettes; the most powerful power brokers get all their cigars here. Really
easy parking.
THE MILL AVENUE JEWERLERS Mill between 4th & 5th St. fine handmade gold
and other beautiful things can be found in this shop, stop in and see the
collection of black pearl creations that Cody and Ann produce. I think that rich
bikers should be wearing Black pearls earrings, as well as the woman of your
dreams. If you're getting engaged or even married, don't miss your opportunity
to have them make you a custom design. They will change your watch battery, but
the fine jewelry is the big attraction. Easy parking.
THE COOL JEWEL MILL BETWEEN4&5TH ST. this store has just moved in the
poster shop and combined their inventory. Good luck! I love these people, you
can not get a better feeling of calm in any store on Mill, Jewelry, and objects
of art from Indonesia, plus a collection of poster art that is now being
tweaked, I will write more soon, I promise.
YOGA PLANET@THE BRICKYARD 5-6ST. AND MILL480-303-YOGA Are you interested
in a really peaceful place to study yoga, and add a sense of well being to your
life? Duh. Walk past the noise and hustle of Mill Ave., and visit Julia and her
daughter, and find an oasis. Study, exercise, and indulge in a session of yoga
classes. I like standing in the studio, and feeling refreshed by the karma.
Discounts if you mention my name. A true holistic living-enrichment center.
P.F. CHANG'S at Mill and University. I recently offered to sample their
food and write a better review, and the manager never looked me in the eye, and
really did not seem to be interested, to bad. A selection of Chinese food. The
absolute worst atmosphere and attitude. Nothing I say could hurt them. On busy
nights the wait for a table is ridiculous and I hate their patio and seating
arrangement. But if you are looking for a complete bar and Chinese food, don't
listen to me. I am not even welcome in their bathroom, really! Like I care if
you can park!
BAMBOO CLUB at 7th and Mill. The best
Chinese food on Mill. They really pride them selves on their martinis. Their
interior designer should get an award. MY friend Don, built the place, Al rides
heard on their choice of employees, which is equal to their fabulous views from
the balcony. As you go up the escalator, check the ceiling, it rules! Great
spare ribs, steak, what's up with the soybeans on every plate? Half price
appetizers during Happy Hour, and they taste great too. Full bar. Buy a loft in
the Brickyard and eat all your meals there, order extra takeout food and eat it
for breakfast. Any day now I will be writing a complete review detailing their
menu, and I can't wait. Basement parking.
RUBY TUESDAY'S at Mill and University. Another corporate standard on
Mill. But I got to say, every meal I had there was good. I like their ribs, A
very comfortable place to hide and drink on Mill. Their bar has a local
neighborhood atmosphere. A great place for a family meal with kids, no
controversy. Real easy parking.
R.A. at Mill between 4th and 5th. Rumor has it that I "dog" this sushi
bar. Not so. Their sushi is always fresh, they have a singles bar atmosphere and
It's dark and intimate. It's a bigger menu than I thought, and I really liked
every thing that I have tried, no complaints about what's on it. Half price
Happy Hour that rules and includes food. Meet your next ex-wife there on a
Friday night! Don't forget to bask in the light of the bubbler. I love it! There
is some new thing about a reverse happy hour? For late drinkers. Please wake up
I send you a lot of business. One of their managers has finally figured out what
I do and I will be expanding this review very soon. Yummy. They have a back yard
patio that is very intimate for dining, and an outside bar back there. Easy
parking.
SAKI PACIFIC RIM CAFE West of Mill on 7th. The first sushi restaurant on
Mill and I always loved everything about it. There approval rating from me is
well earned It's an absolutely beautiful place. The fish tank over the sushi bar
rocks. And the torch outside is really cool. The tables are so big, it's great,
and it's comfy. The colors instill warmth, but it's bright and cheerful. Their
sushi is the best on Mill Avenue because they pay off the mob in California to
get first pick of the best fish. It's got to be true! I heard it. Their outside
patio is always packed on big nights. Men look for the optical illusion caused
by the tile mirror in the 1st floor bathroom. Valet parking available.
GORDON BIERSCH at 5th and Mill. a micro brewery with some great food and
upscale atmosphere. Don't steal their beer glasses, it pisses them off and you
won't get your hand in them to clean the bottom anyway. I love the bright open
feel of the design, and their second floor balcony is great. Take the elevator,
it's too far up. I like their obviously too large neon sign, it's a modern Tempe
landmark. Try their batter-dipped shrimp on a stick; the salad that comes with
it is awesome. The garlic fries would be great, if they were hotter, the manager
says they have fixed the problem, I can't prove it, and don't eat the meat loaf!
But they have great steak. Try the cheesecake, and their burger plate. I can't
talk about their beer because I don't drink. Some love it, some don't. Real
Germans say only their dark beer is authentic. They only sell their own beer,
plus a full bar. Go on the nights the "Scones" play live. And now they have
added my friend Walt Richardson, both are world class professionals. Street and
valet parking. Be careful when on the balcony, don't spill or drop any thing, it
hurts, I know! Watch my work on Mill from their balcony. Valet parking.
BAR LOUIE West of Mill on 4th. A final farewell to the Mill's Landing restaurant, I
had many fine meals there. But, things change and sometimes for the better. At the cul de
sac on 4th and Mill the space has been filled by a chain of Bar Restaurants out of Chicago
called Bar Louie. I don't know why that name is appropriate because it's a fabulous place
run by a man named Ted KAZMER, a very cool guy. They have a sweet little menu with upscale
bar food. The appetizers and sandwiches are like none other on Mill. Great Hero Style
sandwiches over flowing the bread like a volcano. I love the shrimp tacos. There is stuff
on the menu I don't think you should order, but I'm Buyest, so try anything you like because
they are serious about everything they make. Even the tortilla chips are made fresh to
order. They have a horseshoe shaped bar and cute little nightclub style couch deals in the
back. Very comfy and intimate. Great for lunch, dinner or drinking with a date. Hey, Ted
they tell the customers I send I'm that guy who just wants a free meal, good move! Easy
parking, Day or night.
OWL'S NEST at 5th and Mill, They have the best view on Mill Avenue for
drinking and watching the sun go down. It has a nice feel, the wood is warm, and
recently their manager Steve had a change of heart and I accepted his hand in
peace they sell no food, just hard liquor, beer and I mean 30 flavors on tap and
another 20 to 30 in bottles. So food can be brought up from Hooter's, no
surcharge, big deal! Drink there at the Magic Hour, it glows. And look for the
night Walt Richardson Is rocking there. Tell them I sent you and watch what
happens. In this case things have really changed. Take the elevator, easy
parking .
ROLLERZ 5th and Mill This cute little shop offers 2 or 3 kinds of soup
and hot and cold wraps. It's a corporate fast food deal, but with a homemade
feel. A Cuban sandwich made with tortillas, with always-fresh ingredients A
great variety of meats and spicy flavors They're a little overpriced but very
healthy. They make a variety of smoothies that are "ok", but the powders they
use are of questionable value. I am banned from entering this place upon threat
of arrest. When I tried to make peace, with them I was disappointed. To bad.
Easy Parking.
SLICES PIZZA 6th st. E.of Mill Pizza again, but this time it's a small
mom & pop type , by the slice place. Boston Style. When you order at the
counter, you're standing over a glass case with 7 to 10 pizza flavors, all
fresh. Most of the locals believe this is the Best Pizza on Mill. Even the Mayor
stops in for his favorite flavor. Tell them I sent you. They like hearing it.
Look for their second location in Downtown Phoenix (coming soon). Ask for the
discount, easy meter parking.
CAFÉ BOA 7th and Univ. on Mill.
Pasta, Pasta, Pasta...fresh genuine, with great bread and hippies serving it to you in
genuine bistro atmosphere. Rickety marble tables, with bent wire chairs. An inside area,
right next to. The Exposed kitchen. A front patio on Mill that has been doubled in size,
and a quiet back yard patio, I think is the sweetest place to eat on mill, all very
intimate. Giant Pasta plates with really great flavors. Really--I love the "tiger shrimp"
appetizers The owner has recently opened the vino something place next store and has
invited me to sample both and I am going to, very soon. Easy parking.
LONG WONG'S 7th & Mill Nobody on Mill has more or better Rock and Roll
as a nighttime combination. Real Rock, Blues, some blue grass, The band get the
whole cover so don't nickel and dime them .The toughest bouncers on Mill Avenue.
The some of "Best" wings and fried food on Mill menu. A patio outside that you
can watch your scooter from and a goofy little dining area, where you order your
food. The closest thing to a "Biker Bar" on Mill. Beer and hard liquor. NO Valet
Parking
EAST COAST SUBS 5th and 6th on Mill this little place looks like a NYC Pizza Place, but
don't be fooled. It is special because of the subs, a wide variety. Good onion rings and
cold drinks and beer. The walls are covered with so much memorabilia you can't see it all
before you leave. Very N.Y.C. Easy Parking!
COLD STONE CREAMERY ICE CREAM 5th St. & Mill This concept of hand mashed
ice cream with A huge selection of mix-ins is so loved by small children I can't
stop myself from telling them about it. They killed off Ben & Jerry's. No Cherry
Garcia! But you'll be satisfied. Low fat stuff too. And Shakes. . Easy parking.
Hurry up and go there before they close their doors on June 30th
HOUSE OF TRICKS 7th Street east of Mill If I'm backed into a corner, By a customer,
and asked the "BEST" restaurant question, and the person has plenty of funds, I always start
with the House of Tricks. The only truly gourmet restaurant in the Mill community. They
earn their kudos from Desert to Appetizers. It's fabulous! Most of their tables are
outside a restored Victorian style house filled with antiques. Even the plates are all
different because they are antiques. I like everything about this place, except, how
generous they are toward me...But it's okay. I'm most concerned about my customers and this
place rules. Their bar is outside year-round with a fireplace, and a fan with misters built
in. I have never sent anyone there, who complained, except when they are closed or on
nights Gammage is having a show. Ask the manager about the letter they got from the coach
of the, Yale , women's basketball team. She went there every night after I sent her, Call
for a reservation. Ample free parking. Look for the Moore House. It's a historic landmark
in Tempe, where a former Governor lived. It's cute and just across the street.
McDuffy's 5th st. W. Of Mill
A sports bar with a typical menu, it's really of no interest to me when gambling
is part of the equation. I believe they have the most TV's in the neighborhood,
but not the best. Some times it is the only place you can get certain games . I
don't care about their bottom line, they are fine without my support, but their
employees do have to make a living. So, when a major game is played at Sun Devil
Stadium, usually one team or the other chooses this place as their support base
and I'll at least pass on that information. Several of there past chefs have
invited me to try the food. It was a secret, no big deal, but it's the gambling
that bothers me. Gambling is for losers. Period. But they do have fun. I'd
rather be a heroin junkie, at least you get your money's worth.A huge free parking lot.
GENTLE
STRENGTH Univ. W. Of Mill Are you interested in a restaurant with the grain
of the day? A vegetarian oasis in the Desert, just down University at Ash
Avenue. But I consider it in my venue. A combination Co-op Super Market,
restaurant with live outdoor shows, mini artisans craft shows. All manner of
alternative thinking comes out of the Co-op. The restaurant has a variety of
salads, entrees and deserts, along with live music at lunch. I'm glad they are
part of this community. When I eat there the manager always makes me feel like a
member. Check the free store across their free parking lot. They can always use
a few donations.
SAMMY'S WOOD FIRED PIZZA4th St. & Mill. I like their pizza, but I am from
NYC, so the surprise is that I am willing to say this. The shrimp and Garlic
pizza is my favorite. the cheese appetizer is a treat, if you add shrimp or
anchovy it's a meal. I recently tried the lobster Bisque, and I loved it. They
have added some new Items to there menu, so I am raising some money to sample
everything, the new appetizers, include a lettuce wrap. The variety of fixings
for their pizza is huge, so you will find something you love as much as I do.
Everything is always very very fresh. Angel hair pasta with shrimp is also on
the list of things I would spend my own money on .I like their bread very much.
Hard liquor and beer. Inside and outside seating, their side patio on 4th street
is one of my favorites on mill. A great place for couples and large groups. My
friend Carl, is the general Manager, so say hello when you go. Easy Street
parking.
IN SEASONS DELI 4th-5th St.& Mill Hidden inside the Mill Avenue Courtyard, behind the
busy thoroughfare is an island of delight called . It's open for lunch from around 11:00 am
to 4:00 pm and it's worth every ounce of energy the owner puts in. Julia Child would ask
them for advice, if I were going to shoot a cooking show I would use this place. The Best
Homemade Salads, various kinds of rice. The best chicken salad on Mill . Healthy but not
wacko. Deserts turn out to be the bonus. Great iced tea. A kind word from the employees,
maybe you will get a glimpse of somebody's personal kid pictures. Ask Chel, when she is
singing at a local venue. The seating is at picnic tables outside under a trellis and the
sound of running water helps sooth your nerves as you eat among the truly well informed Mill
Avenue clientele. Closed weekends, easy parking.
COURT YARD BY MARRIOT
5th St. W. Of Mill I have always felt this hotel had the best
breakfast on Mill. This is the only place on Mill to get breakfast, It's a buffet for under
$10.00 and they give you double your money's worth. A live human will cook an omelet,
waffle or just pile large amounts of bacon and sausage on your plate. All kinds of bread,
to be toasted and sweet cakes of all kinds and cereal. Chocolate milk and 3 kinds of juice.
Don't forget your free newspaper in the lobby and candy in the bowl as you leave. Free
Parking.
TEMPE MISSION PALMS HOTEL 5th St. E. of Mill This hotel has the Best deal on Mill Avenue
for lunch. Wake Up Mill Ave diners! It is a buffet for $8.00 or 9.00 that is wonderful .How
many roast beef sandwiches can a person eat? Several hot entrees are grouped at one side of
the room and a deli buffet is unlimited, not to mention a dessert buffet. Las Vegas Never
had it so good. The ideal of deciding how toasted my bread should be is key. But there is
one drawback; I'm the only local with this information. The hotel is not looking for
outside diners who are not guests; don't expect this attitude at the Waldorf or Park Plaza
in NYC. So, if you go, have lunch, and do not tell Phil Black that I sent you. Look for
free parking in the front and ask Pat Keating for directions, for the best tee time
information in the area. Lots of free parking.
Graffiti 4th and 5th St. and Mill A local mom & pop clothes, jewelry and tobacco smoking
products shop and they sell cigarettes. People come from all over come to stand in
Lawrence's Court. Information about all levels of cool can be learned. The collection of
clothing for "Goths," "rude boys." Hippies, etc. A huge selection of black dresses, All
kinds of alternative thinking. This management is not in bed with the DTC, or any authority
figure. What is a whippet? Everybody loves these people except...Angry Republicans. As if
they care where you park. Duh!
THE HEADQUARTERS 7th St.and FOREST Do not under any circumstances expect me to even
look at the selection of glass tobacco products that they sell, easy parking , Lawrence gave
me permission to write this review, and they have a full selection of
posters, rock and roll stuff, tell Ted I said to get a haircut. And easy parking.
ISLANDS BURGER 7th in the heart of Centerpoint. 480-929-9769
I am in love again,
with a really pretty blonde woman, with the warmth of a Zen Master named Amanda, my waitress
at Islands. When I add the presence my old friend Melissa, who I actually directed to
Islands for a job, I am floating in a dining spa of pleasure. MY knowledge of Islands has
historically been limited to my absolute obsession for their Onion rings $4.29 , There are
three ingredients, and corn flakes are the most important, and the fact that children of all
ages totally adore eating there. They have a darker atmosphere and more outside would lead
one to believe. I ordered my food surrounded by a staff of highly respectful employees led
by New General Manager Art Elliot, who, with the official okey dokey of their big deal
corporate guy Bob Thelen, who invited me in. Thanks. They were not happy with the original
Review that has been running since I wrote it in rehab 3 months ago. We cut a deal outside
of Starbucks(plug) some time back while I was trying to get them to take my guide. When I
discovered to whom I was talking, It took me a while to force 50 extreme athletes to pony up
enough cash so I could write a totally honest review. It is not hard to find a list of good
reasons to send people searching for this place buried in the Centerpoint oasis 12 steps
from the Harkins Movie theater, and surrounded by 3 of my favorite metal rabbits , and a
cement pond with fountains, Burgers with names like Big Wave, Sunset, Hawaiian and Hula
$5.55- $6.39 come on a platter with great fresh fixings(lettuce, tom, onion,)included. Fries
are a separate order, a two pound $2.49 platter big enough for two or more to share,
cheddar fries with scallions( not green onion, yeah)$5.10,I even encourage adding chilli for
$1.69 more A surfer dining feast. Dr. Atkins mind your own business. The chicken Breast
sandwiches $7.39-$7.49, list is basically the same flavors as the burger list with great bird
names, Shorebird, Toucan, Sandpiper, Pelican, Hmmm taste just like Chicken. I did not come
here for fine dining, I came to eat in a fun atmosphere and I got it. Who ever picked out
there collection of color surfer photo murals did not drop the beach ball. Salads that are
fresh, 6 of them$1.25-8.95 have the appropriate Big Kahuna type names like Islander, Jungle
Caesar, Mainlander, and China Coast, as well the Taco list, with fillings like fish, pork,
chicken, and veggie, with more great names like luau, Yaki, Baja, and Northshore are all
very tasty. Check this description, "slowly cooked seasoned pork grilled with caramelized
onion and teriyaki sauce served in warm corn tortillas with cilantro chili sauce and
topped with avocado salsa, mmm, I stole that description from their table card, so I'm a
little lazy. They have Smoothies, Hard liquor, and beer and a cute little horse shoe bar,
with a homey feeling. So take your cool dude and dudettes there and pig out. Rad might be
the key phrase here. There are Islands restaurants all over California and 5 others in the
valley, because they are very cool. Parking in the big garage.
JACK IN THE BOX Mill & Univ My friend Adel owns about 10 of these fast food
establishments. Even though there is only one other fast food burger place in the area, I
prefer this place because of quality. I love their $.99 burger, their egg rolls are very
good and the variety of real ice cream shakes are wonderful. In addition, a drive through
as well. Always ask for extra stuff on your burger, their glad to provide it at no charge.
Free Parking.
BURGER KING Mill & Univ. There has always been a basic rivalry between this
restaurant and Mc-what's-its-name...who cares? Whatever is available? However, this Burger
King treats the street people who buy food there with respect. Free Parking
SAHARA, Mill & Univ. A Middle Eastern stop on the way to satisfaction, this place
is run by very nice people who do a decent job with falafel. I enjoyed the meal I had there
and it is a reasonable alternative for vegetarians. Easy Parking
RESTAURANT MEXICO, Located just east of Mill on University at the Arches is a
classic Mexican food dining experience. I like the people who run it. They have great
homemade chips authentic cuisine, beer, and margaritas. Family style atmosphere, no
pretenses. When I send people there they always come back to rave.. Go, decide for
yourself. Parking out back
THE CHUCK BOX Univ. E.of Mill Some people can't eat there. Often enough, me. I
will not eat in a place those uses' wooden stumps as chairs. That's it. Nevertheless, in
all fairness, you can try it if you want to. The people that do, really love the place. They
make the burger, and you pick out the fixings from a buffet, it is really a cool place.
Free parking lot.
THE LIBRARY, Mill and 5th St.I am having lunch on the dole again. The Library, a bar
with food, is my latest victim, but that is with out a joke, because I love this place.
Immediately. The babalicous waitress, ERIN, dressed in an outfit that would surely disturb
the peace in any library, in America, is about to serve me a selection from their simple
menu of assorted appetizers and entrees with names like, TOLSTOY TENDERS ($4.75) and LORD OF
THE RINGS ($3.50) I feel like I am in a bar that has been in business for years. I am sure
this new addition to Mill Ave. will become an instant institution. They have a huge
interior, with books everywhere, who cares. The music is just the right mix of great rock&
roll. Live bands, which they have on Saturday afternoons range from unknown locals, to PAPA
ROACH, who made a special appearance recently. They have two separate bar areas, one is a
square, that actually has STOOLS on the outside. In fact it is the only bar you can smoke at
on Mill Ave. There are two pool tables and a collection of more comfortable couch seating
areas than tables that are both for eating, and drinking. Their menu also includes fresh
handmade pizza ($8-$12.00) with names like HOT MAMA, AND BADA BING. Moving down the menu
their BEST SELLER. List includes huge hamburgers, ($4.50-$6.75) to chicken breast sandwiches.
($6.50) Just in case some one in your party is eating HEALTHY, three different tasty salads,
Cobb, Caesar, house ($6.25) should just fine. Then at the last minute desert is screaming for
your attention. Cookies and Ice cream, a brownie with ice cream and stuff or apple pie,
with, you bet ice cream. ($3.50-$3.75). This place gets the official, OKEYDOKEY, from your
favorite self-appointed food critic. Don't forget to ask the girl your with to recite some
of the jokes on the, GIRLS RULE, bathroom walls. (Why did god invent man?) I peaked. I found
a book that actually interested me on the wall. I'm reading it now. Edward R. Morrow, by
Joseph Perisco. To Corinne and Susan who work as actual Librarians that I met at the, SUPERIOR
COURT, law library, in downtown Phoenix. I will say that these very hot waitresses do dress
like LIBRARIANS, You would be proud. I guess the 16, TV's mounted on one wall will be good
if you came to watch a game but, the live action at ground level is much more
interesting. A second BABALICIOUS WAITRESS, Lindsay, served me the CALIFORNIAN ($6.75) a
huge hamburger with avocado and cheese plus other good stuff. Including tasty fries. I am
happy. I had the ONION RINGS, and they were really GOOD. HUGE BREADED RINGS OF CRISPY ONION,
DELICIOUS. My diet went out the window but my heart has flown in the door. To Scott and
Julian the owner/managers who invited me, I give 4 thumbs up, GOOD JOB. A new business on
Mill Ave with genuine character and good food. They even chose comfortable chairs for their
monster size patio. I would have paid money to eat this food. Since I don't drink, I'll say
you'll find a fine selection of beer and hard liquor to meet any drinking needs. THANKS FOR
HAVINGS ME . Good luck parking
DAVE'S THE DOG HOUSE UNIV at Forrest A cute little hot dog shop, The best hot dog in
the area, and such nice people. A wide variety of toppings and a unique cooking style. Close
to ASU , and tasty too!
MOMMA'S PIZZA Univ. eastof Mill If you take fresh ingredients and make pizza from
scratch, you would be copying Momma's Pizza. I have no relationship with this place. I
have had their pizza. I like it. I think it is the closest thing to N.Y.C. pizza My son who
worked at 1260, AM, KASU, really liked it. Free Parking, tell them I sent you.
RINALDIS 3rd St. west of Mill an important little secret. A small East Coast type
deli restaurant with great "Boar Head" cold cut sandwiches, not fancy, always clean, and run
by really nice people. Tables inside and out. A great place to have a fast quiet lunch .
You can also hide there and be really satisfied. Not over priced, open till about 7:00 p.m.
Easy parking, A New owner took over and he needs to know I sent you.
I LOVE BK ITALIAN ICES 6th East of Mill.
I'm from NYC and I can't believe how many
flavors of water, cream and "Italian Ices" they import for the Big Apple. It's a little bit
of heaven on the Desert. You won't like every flavor, but who cares, there will be dozens
you will love. I love," Melon Melody ",Ask "Mike" to let you taste as many as you like, till
you feel guilty. In the Big Apple, Pizza should be followed by Italian Ices and now you're
set. It's next to Slices Pizza. Get a Shirt. Easy Parking.
QUIZNOS, 3rd and 4th on Mill This restaurant has great toasted sandwiches, I met the
owner long before they opened and although they are a franchise, this is basically a new mom
and pop business, the owners life revolves round this business and they are always there to
offer their personal touch. The variety of bread and cold cuts are fabulous, they also make
fresh soup and they are quite rich. Easy parking.
MY BIG FAT GREEK RESTAURANT, 5th and 6th on Mill, This new eatery, has a selection of
Greek food, which I always love, their spices are unique, and the Greek yogurt sauces are
unique and I love them. When I have actually eaten there I will say more, but everybody I
talk to has reported that they were happy. Easy parking.

MACAYO'S DEPOT CANTINA, 3rd St. ON ASH W. OF MILL.
This is a great Mexican
restaurant for tourists, but that is just the tip of the ice berg, there menu is a Mexican,
and on Fridays they have a free buffet that is outside, and if your over 21, they will sell
you beer, and hard liquor That comes with large numbers of young people looking for their
next date. Do not forget to buy a margarita glass to use on you next visit, and save money.
